I'm new to eSK8 and am an older guy, 52 yrs old. I've only rode the board 2x in the last 2 weeks, but I'm in love already. I think I chose the right board company because there is local retailer support such as OSBS, and because this seems like a great board for beginners such as myself, with much room for growth on the board. I'm a big guy at 6'2" 225lbs, and the board has plenty of power to get me around and uphills.
The modes with the remote are great and keep me safe. I started in the Safe mode for the 1st 10 min or so to feel out the board, then moved into ECO mode and have remained there with plenty of excitement. I tried the Sport and GTR modes briefly to see what to look forward to, and boy those are powerful and exciting, but I can see how more easily I could get hurt if I'm not ready, so I'll work up to those.
The board is a carving machine, even without the touted flex of the bamboo deck. I feel like my old snowboarding days when I get a good carve going.
I love that I will also be able to customize the remote's braking and acceleration curves to my style of triggering.
The AT tires make the board ride so smooth no matter the pavement, and I'm looking forward to going on grass and dirt trails.
